Rodrigo Batista is a Brazilian theater director, actor, and educator whose international journey began in 2017 at DAS Theater Amsterdam. Before immigrating, he graduated as a theater director from the University of São Paulo and worked for over 10 years with his collective [pH2]: Estado de Teatro. In Europe, he has developed projects that confront the complexities of colonialism, capitalism, and ideological struggles. His recent project, Kidnapped, has been presented in various contexts in Belgium and the Netherlands and has received a strong critical response. Alongside this project, he created The Furious Rodrigo Batista – Side A and The B-Side, which were presented in various European festivals and institutional contexts. His practice is marked by explicit political critique and a physically charged aesthetic that challenges public discourse on macropolitics. In addition to his artistic work, Rodrigo teaches at the Conservatorium Antwerp and is a guest teacher at LUCA Leuven.
